Sightseeing "Munich Swing Procession"
Live Music with the Souvenirs

We will meet at the Diana Temple, which is located right in the centre of Munich's famous "Hofgarten" (court garden). This is where we'll dance first and start exploring the city then- only stopping to dance some more.
The event will be accompanied by the Trio "Souvenirs"
The tour includes some of Munich's highlights and gives a nice overview over the city's history. We will visit buildings and places from the middle ages, when "Munichen" (as it was called then) was founded and might even hear some funny stories about witches and alchemy…. (Boo!! ) We ll get to know the former royal residence of the Bavarian Dukes and Kings, The Feldherrnhalle, the "Drückebergergasse", churches, gardens and probably A LOT of lovely Bavarians! See you there!

Oktoberfest (Wiesn)

We will be celebrating the first Wiesn-Sunday of 2010 in the "Löwenbräu-Zelt"
starting at 11:00 am.
At the same time one of the main highlight of the Wiesn events and an important must-see finish directly at the "Theresienwiese". It's the Oktoberfest Costume and Riflemen’s Parade. The parade happens every year on the first Wiesn Sunday which will fall on September 20th this year. If you arrive a little bit earlier at the Oktoberfest, you'll able to watch this.

Link: OktoberfestIt all began with the wedding of the Bavarian crown prince Ludwig (later known as King Ludwig the first) to princess Therese from Saxony-Hildburghausen, hence the name of the Theresien-Wiese (local dialect: "Wiesn") or Therese's green, on October 12, 1810. Five days later, the National Guard organized a large public horse race to ensure that the Bavarian folk could also take part in the wedding celebration. It was decided that the festival should be repeated at the same time the following year, which marked the birth of the "October-Festivals".

The enormous entertainment spectrum today didn't exist in the past: A couple of carousels and several beer stands were all at the time. The showman business was first developed in the 1870's, and the first beer tents started in 1896. As Munich was considerably smaller in the past, the proprietors and event organizers went out to the Wiesn for the starting ceremonies. This tradition is still reflected today with the entry of the Wiesn proprietors on Saturday morning in the parade.

The former mayor Thomas Wimmer first started the well-known Tradition of tapping the beer keg in the 1950's. Since then, the mayor has always tapped the first keg on the first Wiesn-Saturday at exactly 12:00pm and called out "O'zapft is'!" (which means the keg has been tapped).
